Privacy policy

Your quit journey is personal. Here is how Summit handles information in the app, on this website, and when you contact support.

Information on your device

Summit stores your profile and quit settings, craving and lapse logs, progress, reminders, saved conversations, and Coach memory locally on your device. Information you enter may include your name, optional date of birth and gender, quit date and reason, cigarette and pack estimates, optional quit-medicine choices, costs, and personal notes. Device backups may also contain app data depending on your Apple settings.

When you use the Accountability Partner

With AI sharing enabled, your message and a limited recent conversation history are sent through Summit’s Coach server to OpenAI to generate a reply. The request can include your name, quit reason and date, smoking estimates, optional quit-medicine choices, craving statistics, triggers, and helpful strategies. Your messages may contain sensitive information; share only what you are comfortable sending.

Coach automatically keeps a short memory summary on your device and includes it in future Coach requests while AI Chat is enabled. Optional notes are shared only when you enable that separate choice. You can clear Coach memory in Settings. Clearing memory does not erase saved chats or information already processed by service providers.

If you separately enable Help Improve Coach, Summit securely saves each new user message and AI reply on its Coach server for quality review, including AI-assisted review. This choice is optional and does not affect AI Chat or Coach memory. Stored exchanges include conversation and message identifiers, the time, and the model used; they do not include the full profile or full submitted conversation context.

Quality-review exchanges expire after 30 days and are removed from active storage within the next hour. Hosting backups may retain deleted data separately under the hosting provider’s backup practices. You can turn Help Improve Coach off to stop saving new exchanges and use Settings to request deletion of the server copy. Chats saved on your iPhone are separate. Turning AI Chat off stops future AI sharing but does not recall requests already sent.

Requests to OpenAI disable stored response objects. OpenAI may retain API data in abuse-monitoring logs under its applicable API data-retention policy. OpenAI’s standard API policy does not use API data to train its models unless the API customer opts in. See OpenAI’s API data controls.

Purchases and service security

Apple processes subscription payments. Summit does not receive your full payment card details. Purchase transaction information is used to verify subscription access. The Coach service uses hashed identifiers and usage counters to enforce limits and prevent misuse. Hosting providers may process connection information such as IP addresses and technical logs to deliver and secure their services.

Support messages and this website

If you email support, we receive your address, message, and any attachments through our email provider. We use them to respond and resolve your request. This website does not include an advertising tracker, analytics integration, or contact form. Its hosting platform may process request logs and necessary security or access cookies.

Why information is used and who receives it

Information is used to provide app features and AI replies, verify purchases, keep services secure, and answer support requests. Relevant service providers include Apple for purchases and device services, OpenAI for AI processing, Render for Coach hosting, our email provider for support messages, and the website hosting platform. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect rights and security.

Retention and deletion

Local app data remains until removed through available app controls or by deleting the app; backups are managed separately through your Apple settings. You can delete saved conversations in Chat History and clear Coach memory in Settings. If Help Improve Coach is enabled, new exchanges remain in active server storage for no more than 30 days unless you request earlier deletion in Settings. Deleting server-saved chats does not remove chats stored on your iPhone, and deleting local records does not erase information already processed by service providers. Support correspondence is retained while needed to resolve requests and meet applicable obligations; contact us to request deletion.

Your choices and rights

You can edit profile information, turn AI sharing on or off, control optional note sharing, enable or disable Help Improve Coach, clear Coach memory, delete locally saved chats, request deletion of server-saved chats, and manage notification permissions. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent. Email us to make a request. We may need to verify your identity, and we cannot directly retrieve information stored only on your device.

International processing and security

Our providers may process information in the United States or other countries. No online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Avoid including passwords, payment details, or unnecessary sensitive information in Coach chats or support emails.

Children and changes

Summit is intended only for adults aged 18 and older. People under 18 should not use Summit or submit personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact support. We will update this page when our practices change and provide additional notice where required.
